I wore this jacket on a sunny July ride through the winding roads outside Santa Fe, NM. I found it to be very comfortable and easy to wear. I was initially concerned that the back armor might be confining, but once I was riding, I didn’t even notice it. The jacket seems to be perfectly conformed for a riding posture. It is a good weight for spring and fall riding, and even on a July day, I found it comfortable while moving; once stopped and standing in the New Mexico sun, it became a little too warm of course. The pockets are ample for carrying my iPhone, keys, gloves, and wallet. I appreciated the bottom-up zipper for comfort, though I didn’t really need it; the jacket sits very comfortably and doesn’t ride up. There is a snap at the neck that keeps the collar off your neck if you don’t choose to zip it all the way up. Sleeve length was perfect, and the sleeves have zippers so that you can wear any type of riding glove with them. The design is awesome, and I found that I got a lot of attention. It’s a jacket that you could wear for riding or for fashion, but the functionality is great!

I had the opportunity to wear a Flying Duchess leather jacket on a ride a few nights ago. I have been riding for about 7 years and I have a leather jacket with no armor and a Field Sheer jacket which has full protective armor in the back panel, shoulders, and elbow area and the jacket material is polyester. After wearing a Flying Duchess leather jacket which also has protective armor, I will probably sell the Field Sheer jacket and ride in the Flying Duchess jacket going forward. In comfort there is no comparison. Flying Duchess jacket is made with a comfortable leather that moves with your moves. The armor is comfortable and once I got riding I forget the armor was there. And even off the bike the armor is comfortable and not noticeable. The fit of the jacket is perfect. I am 5’6″ and weigh around 137. The jacket I wore was a medium which fit snug but not tight or binding. I could move freely in the jacket and never felt restricted. The sleeve length was perfect as well. The sleeves were long coming down past my wrist and onto the base of my hand. It had a zipper at the base of the sleeve, great feature to tighten or loosen the sleeve. The front of the jacket was shorter than the back which I loved. The front of the jacket sat right on my lap, never pushing up bunching up at the neck like some jackets do and the back came down lower covering the small of my back and slightly below my hips. The two way zipper was useful as well but the jacket is so well adjusted to fitting properly while riding that I didn’t need to zip up from the bottom on this ride. The perforated front panels not only add dimension and style to the jacket, but also allows the jacket to be cooler in the hotter weather I was riding in at the time.

The pocket design was also great. Two hidden zip pockets on the breast panels which I put my phone, wallet and money in and two bottom zip pockets that were deep and roomy that I put my i Pod in and ran my head phone wires up under the jacket.

There really wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this jacket. The style is amazing and beautiful. It is obvious that a lot of thought went into making this jacket look striking and stylish without being over the top, and at the same time be so comfortable and functional . No more clunky, bulky, heavy jackets for me. This jacket is well made, with not only style thought about but also with safety features included in its design. Much thought went into it as well concerning woman’s size and needs. So.. enough said, time to go for a ride!
